PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: WATER SYSTEM UPDATE

The Town of Hammonton Water Department is currently addressing areas of brown, cloudy, or discolored water affecting several sections of town.

What Happened?

Yesterday, Well #5 was put back into service following routine maintenance. The startup process naturally disturbed the water system, resulting in temporary discoloration. This is a similar effect to what occurs during the normal, routine fire hydrant flushing.

Is the water safe?

Yes, the water remains completely safe to use.

What is being done?

Town crews are actively flushing water lines to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

  • Yesterday’s Focus: Crews concentrated heavily on the areas around N. Egg Harbor Rd., Fairview Ave., and N. 3rd St. to Bellevue Ave.
  • Today’s Plan: Startup operations are continuing today, and flushing crews will remain out in the field working to clear the lines.

What should you do?

Because well startup operations are ongoing, some areas may still experience temporary cloudiness or a brown tint today. If you notice discoloration in your home or business, please run your cold water taps until the water runs completely clear.

Questions or Concerns?

If you have any questions or if your water does not clear after running it, please contact Mike Ruberton at 609-567-4331.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as our crews work to clear the system.
