Who We Are:

The Hammonton Green Committee is a group of volunteers who work to make our community more aware, resilient, and more sustainable. We take on projects and plan events that will help reduce our collective carbon footprint and educate citizens about environmental responsibility in South Jersey and beyond.

Upcoming Events:

Community Energy Planning Grant

Hammonton has received a grant through the NJ Board of Public Utilities in 2025.

The Green Committee will be helping to administer this grant and will assist with setting up stakeholder meetings so that residents, business owners and other members of the community can discuss ideas about what might help to save money, use energy more efficiently and to prepare for the future. The purpose of this grant is to develop a community energy plan that includes several projects that make sense for our town. With this plan, additional grant money may be available to implement these projects.

Community Energy Planning – Potential Initiatives

Hammonton has the opportunity to select actions that we may be able to get grant funding to help implement. New Jersey Board of Public Utilities created a Community Energy Plan Grant (CEPG) program to help New Jersey municipalities in developing a community energy plan and we need your input!

Come out to a Stakeholder (that’s you!) Meeting on Thursday, April 30th at 6 pm at the Canoe Club (100 Sports Drive, Hammonton Lake Park) to ask questions and share what you think might help our community’s future energy use.

Community energy plans are short-range plans created by municipalities to identify energy initiatives to increase clean energy production, reduce energy use, and cut greenhouse gas emissions across out entire community.

  • Construct new municipal buildings as model green buildings
  • Encourage benchmarking and commissioning for existing buildings
