In celebration of National Rescue Dog Day, May 20, the Atlantic County Animal Shelter is helping to raise awareness of the value of rescue dogs as great companions with a special adoption promotion. “Rescue dogs are ready to offer love and loyalty to the families that adopt them,” stated County Executive Dennis Levinson. “I have had several rescue dogs in my lifetime and have never been disappointed.”
The shelter is waiving the $110 adoption fee between Wednesday, May 20 and Sunday, May 24 for dogs available for immediate adoption.
“Our goal is to match these dogs with caring, responsible pet owners,” said Kathy Kelsey, Shelter Manager. “The bonds they form benefit both animal and owner.”
All pets adopted from the shelter receive mandatory sterilization, age-appropriate vaccinations, diagnostic testing, a microchip and free veterinary consultation. Canines adopted from the shelter are also provided two free obedience classes.
The shelter is located at 240 Old Turnpike Road in Pleasantville and is open to the public 1-4 pm each day. Appointments are not necessary. For more information, call (609) 485-2345.
