HAMMONTON, NJ — MainStreet Hammonton invites families to celebrate a major milestone as the 20th Annual Downtown Hammonton Trick or Treat returns on Saturday, October 24, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., with a rain date of Sunday, October 25.

For 20 years, Downtown Hammonton has welcomed thousands of costumed kids, families, and even pets for an afternoon of Halloween fun. Businesses and organizations throughout Downtown will once again be handing out candy and offering activities, games, music, and more.

This year, MainStreet Hammonton is adding a few special touches to celebrate the event’s 20th anniversary, including a new collaboration with students from Hammonton High School. Students will be putting their skills and creativity to work constructing a special Halloween photo opportunity designed specifically for this year’s celebration. Peter Lumber, right here in Hammonton, will be supplying all of the materials needed for the project. What they are creating will remain a surprise for now, so families will have to come Downtown to see it for themselves.

Throughout the event, Downtown Hammonton’s shops and restaurants will also be open, giving trick or treaters and their families plenty of opportunities to stop in, explore, shop, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy everything Downtown has to offer while making their way through the event.

Additional activities will fill Central Avenue, where families can enjoy interactive fun with local organizations, visit with members of the Hammonton Fire Department, check out a fire truck, and enjoy music throughout the afternoon.

The annual Costume Contests will also return, giving kids, adults, groups, and pets a chance to show off their Halloween creativity. Categories include:

  • Kids: Scariest, Most Creative, Best Group, Cutest
  • Pets: Best Pet Costume, First and Second Place
  • Adults: Best Individual and Best Group

Registration for the costume contests begins at 2 p.m. at the corner of Bellevue Avenue and Central Avenue. Contestants may enter one category.

“Twenty years is a pretty incredible milestone for an event that has become such a special tradition in Downtown Hammonton,” said Ty Wilson, Executive Director of MainStreet Hammonton. “Every year, you see families filling the sidewalks, businesses getting involved, and some unbelievably creative costumes. For the 20th anniversary, we wanted to add a few new things while still keeping everything people have come to love about the event. I am especially excited to see the final results of what the students at Hammonton High School create for everyone to enjoy.”
