Rides

Rides in a two place sailplane are available to non-members, subject to availability of a club member having an FAA Commercial Pilot rating to fly the sailplane.

Sailplanes are NOT hang gliders. They are fully enclosed aircraft having basically the same construction as powered aircraft, except that they do not have an engine. The wings are long compared to those of a typical power plane, because long wings are more aerodynamically efficient.

The flight time for these rides is typically 15 to 35 minutes, the flight time being longer the higher the tow height.

Prices also depend on tow height and are as follows:

2000 Feet = $25
3000 Feet = $35
4000 Feet = $45
5000 Feet = $55
